The CCESC provides a continuum of services, programs, and classrooms for students with autism and other social communication concerns. These programs exist as classrooms within our Clermont County local school districts and as a public separate facility at Clermont Educational Collaborative- North for students with more intensive needs.

All of the CCESC Social Communication Program classrooms are designed to meet the needs of students from Kindergarten through grade twelve (12) in special education who have been identified as having autism or other social communication issues. Students enrolled in the Social Communication Program are eligible for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) and have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that guides services.

Students receive direct, specialized instruction in social learning and communication skills as well as academics in a small group setting. The school-based educational team includes a special educator, paraprofessionals, speech and language pathologist, and occupational therapist. Methodologies that are research-based and consistent with best practice are incorporated into program design and delivered as part of an instructional program that meets the individual needs of each child.

The Social Communication Program classrooms are designed to promote skill acquisition in the areas of: social communication skills, independence/life skills, and following routines and schedules as needed for transitions. The classrooms are highly structured and visually organized with separate areas for designed tasks (i.e. individual work, group activities and play).
