EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES

The Clermont County Educational Service Center (CCESC) provides a continuum of preschool services to seven local school districts in Clermont County.  This continuum ranges from integrated center-based classrooms that address the unique needs of each child to services delivered to children with disabilities by certified special education teachers in the child’s familiar environment, such as Head Start, home or child-care settings.

In the center-based programs, children attend half-day sessions for approximately 2.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday and some Fridays. The focus of early childhood programming is to ensure that children develop as a whole child. The preschool curriculum includes knowledge and skills necessary for school success across all developmental domains. Because children learn best through meaningful play, learning is encouraged through a variety of developmentally appropriate activities tailored to meet the ability level and needs of each child.

Our early childhood classrooms serve children three through five years of age. Children with developmental delays in various domains, such as cognitive, communication, sensorimotor, etc. are educated with typically developing peers to provide a diverse and accepting environment for all children. In order to meet the unique needs of each child, the educational team is comprised of a special educator, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, adapted physical education teacher and vision and hearing  supplemental services teachers.

Services and eligibility for preschool programming are determined through the multifactored evaluation process.  Programs are located in Batavia, Bethel, Clermont Northeastern, Felicity, Goshen, New Richmond and Williamsburg local school districts.
