Parents, there are many resources available on the following web site:

PRIMARY LESSON PLANS

I love this homegrown website. Children plan their own farm after doing some research to find out which animals can be raised in specified conditions. They must consider what the animals will eat, what they will produce, the animals’ behaviors, etc. This is a great group activity where talented students could be grouped together to give each other a good stretch!

This one is for kindergarten students! Students learn how to build their own house. Great follow up to The Three Little Pigs! Okay, first grade teachers can use it, too!

This won’t win any awards for attractiveness, but the print is big, and the ideas are clever. Perfect for primary students studying transportation. Many higher order thinking activities for a transportation unit. This could be adapted to another discipline, too.

PROFICIENCY PREPARATION

This site won’t set the world on fire, but I thought it might be a good idea for first or second graders in the study of Martin Luther King, Jr. or another famous person. This skill will help set the stage for the important proficiency skill of reading timelines. Children could practice making both vertical and horizontal timelines.

You will need to highlight the whole URL , copy, and paste it because only part of the address is active above. This is just a good proficiency practice site. We can’t seem to get enough of those!

SOCIAL STUDIES

This would be great fun for 5th graders studying the pioneers. “Pioneer’s Journey to the Frontier” has a link underneath its title that opens up to multiple lessons and projects.
