Alternative
Mentoring
Program
The Alternative Mentoring program is designed to
provide a mentoring program for teachers who are new to the district but
do not qualify as
an Entry Year Teacher. The Alternative Mentoring program is actually
three different phases to meet the needs of those teachers who hold
special certificates. Phase I matches new teachers holding Conditional
Teaching Permits, Troops to Teachers Permits, Provisional Certificates or
Temporary Permits with a mentor as well as providing a monthly program to
discuss key teaching processes. Phase II and Phase III are for those
teachers holding an Alternative License. Phases II and III provide a
structured program of monthly meetings along with classroom observations.
The Alternative Mentoring program follows the Ohio Department of
Education’s guidelines for Alternative Licensing.
